Need To Understand Another Language? Word Translator Can Help!
December 9th, 2002

Word Translator 4.8.9 ($18+ Shareware)
Halldor Gislason

Sure, most of the content on the Internet is available in English, often at the same time as versions in other languages. But there are bound to be times when you find something that you need to translate. Sure, Sherlock and OS X offer a translator, but Word Translator goes beyond simple translation...

Speaking of basic translation, there are currently around 15 languages that Word Translator can understand. There are dictionaries for translation in both directions (English to other language, and other language to English) so you don't have to waste space for a dictionary that you'll never use. There are several modes which use the dictionaries. In the Translator mode, you enter a phrase in one language, and the translation is returned in a few seconds.

Features beyond the basic translation make this program particularly useful. There is a Phrase Browser, where you can enter the first few words of a phrase, and see the possible translations. This can be a great way to quickly pick up key phrases you'll need. And to help make sure that you remember your vocabulary, there's a practice feature which displays a word, and then offers a multiple choice quiz, where you must pick the translation. Once the quiz is over, you get your score.

So make sure you know what's going on, in any language, with Word Translator.
