DV Dailies - VariCam And Final Cut Team Up In New Feature

Panasonic has announced that production of the feature film Sweet William was completed using the Panasonic VariCam in conjunction with Apple's Final Cut Pro HD. Directed by Bruce Marshall Romans, the production relied on the VariCam for its cost saving qualities when compared to film, and the simplified process of editing natively in Final Cut Pro HD (FCP HD).

The HD footage was transfered to a dual 1.25 G4 using Panasonic's AJ-HD1200A DVCPRO HD VTR through the FireWire interface, providing full resolution for the editing process. Once the editing was complete in FCP HD, the exported assembly was taken on a hard drive to a facility for color correction and 35mm blow-up.

Panasonic touting the Apple technology used in the production is an indication of the growing prominence of Final Cut Pro.
