Mac Gaming News - MacPlay Ships Puzzle Game Bundle: Bejewled & Alchemy

by , 12:00 PM EDT, June 28th, 2002

MacPlay has announced that the puzzle game bundle Bejeweled & Alchemy is shipping. This title's games originated as online games, which have been enhanced for standalone release on the Mac. Bejeweled is a gem-matching game, while Alchemy puts the player in pursuit of tranforming materials into gold. From MacPlay:

MacPlay, a subsidiary of United Developers, announced today that the Mac versions of PopCap’s wildly popular puzzle games, Bejeweled and Alchemy are shipping.

Bejeweled, enjoyed over 17 million times online, is a fast paced gem-matching puzzle that will keep players coming back again and again. Players swap gems on the board to align at least 3 gems in a row, either horizontally or vertically, to collect points and make the collection disappear while more gems fall into place.  In Alchemy, the player is a wizard who must transform the ordinary into the invaluable in this addictive, brain-tickling puzzle.  The ancient art of alchemy involves the transformation of worthless metals into glittering gold.  Throughout history, most have failed, but stories have materialized of mystical wizards who discovered the secrets of this ancient art.

"We are very excited that Bejeweled and Alchemy are shipping." Said Mark Cottam President of MacPlay. "Bejeweled and Alchemy are the two best puzzle games since Tetris and will offer hours of entertainment that the entire family can enjoy."

The Macintosh version is even more fun than the online version with loads of new features, new sound effects and music, completely new game modes and spectacular high-resolution graphics.

The bundle is being offered for US$19.99, and can be purchased online, or in retail stores. You can find more information at MacPlay's Web site.
