Mac Gaming News - Unity 1.5.1 Improves Support For Older Hardware, Adds New Terrain Shaders

Over the Edge Entertainment this week released version 1.5.1 of its 3D game development software Unity, adding support for what it says are "a terrifying range of old hardware/software combinations." The company put in such effort to ensure that its customers' games could reach the widest possible audience and come with reduced support and QA costs.

Other changes in Unity 1.5.1 include new terrain and foliage shaders, as well as support for Unicode fonts and scripting, ensuring that games created with it can reach non-English speaking players. In addition, a "car wizard" that makes it easier to add vehicles to games is included, along with a host of bug fixes and performance improvements.

This is a free update for Unity 1.x owners.
