EA Comes to the Mac For Real

Mac Gaming News - EA Comes to the Mac For Real

by , 7:50 AM EDT, August 20th, 2007

Electronic Arts promised to bring its video games to the Mac, and the company finally delivered. Battlefield 2142, Need for Speed Carbon, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars will all hit store shelves on Tuesday, August 28.

The company also plans to add Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 and Madden NFL 08 to its Mac line up in September or October. Instead of rewriting the games for Mac OS X, EA is using the Cider engine which allows Windows applications to run on Intel-based Macs without any recoding.

EA announced at Apple's World Wide Developer Conference in early June that it was going to release several of its titles for Mac OS X in July.

Apple still touts it's 2 year old "Universal" plan on it's web site as a must-have feature. Now we have a brand new category of Mac applications. Intel-only QDP apps. (P=port) At least we don't need to pay the Windows toll.
