Next EVE Online Expansion Set For Nov. 11

by , 6:35 PM EST, November 5th, 2008

CCP Games has set next Tuesday, Nov. 11, as the release date for Quantum Rise, the ninth free expansion to its science-fiction MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) EVE Online. New features include expanded manufacturing capabilities, more efficient bomb production, a rebalancing of ship speeds, user interface improvements, custom medals, and the ability to trade 30-day game time tokens for EVE Online currency via the EVE market.

In addition, Quantum Rise offers graphical improvements, 10 new music tracks, a new certificate system, new interstellar travel routes, autopilot avoidance options in all ships, and a new capital ship, the Orca. CCP will be showing off Quantum Rise during its fifth annual Fanfest, which will be held Nov. 6 to 8 in Iceland.

EVE Online

EVE Online differs from many MMORPGs by offering one constantly evolving, persistent universe where all players participate, unlike a game such as World of Warcraft, which has various servers. Subscriptions start at US$14.95 per month, with discounts available for multi-month purchases; expansion packs are always free. The game runs only on Intel processors and requires Mac OS X version 10.4.9, 1.8GHz processor speed, 1GB RAM, 128MB video RAM, and 6GB of hard drive space.

A country on a tiny island in the middle of the Atlantic with half the population of North Dakota? Do they want anyone to show up?

They need to give North Dakota the half of the population that they took!

Subject: Eve Online is an Icelandic game.

It is run from there and, as far as I know, is Icelandic owned.
Why would they have it anywhere else.
I detect a note of US-centricism.
