Mac Gaming News - Torque Game Engine Advanced 1.8 Adds Mac Support
by , 3:40 PM EST, November 14th, 2008
GarageGames on Friday released version 1.8 of its Torque Game Engine Advanced (TGEA), adding an OpenGL graphics implementation and Mac OS X support. Current licensees can download a Beta for free; the final release is scheduled for later this month.
GarageGames' mission is to deliver game creation tools at reasonable prices, with independent developers a main focus. The company's products include Torque Game Builder, which is aimed at 2D games, and Torque Game Engine, which is for 3D games -- both are available now for Mac users. TGEA goes beyond those applications to include a 3D toolset with full WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) mission building, procedurally generated shaders, a mesh engine for creating multi-bone skeletons, multi-player networking, and more.

"Along with the release of a Mac-compatible InstantAction, our 3D games portal, GarageGames is really committing itself to Mac development," Matt Fairfax, Senior Engine Developer at GarageGames and lead developer on TGEA, said in a press release.
