Mac Gaming News - Creepy & Cute Parts Pack Adds 100+ New Options for Spore Creatures

by , 8:00 AM EST, November 17th, 2008

Electronic Arts on Monday released its first add-on to its evolutionary action/strategy/exploration game Spore: the Creepy & Cute Parts Pack, which features 60 new parts and 48 new paint styles for creature creation, as well as 24 new test drive animations and two new backgrounds. All of the new stuff falls under the category of threatening or adorable, which players can mix-and-match to create, for example, a creature with big batting eyelashes and a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth.

After players are finished designing their creatures, they can use the new test drive animations to make their creations shamble like zombies, do the robot dance, flirt, laugh like an evil genius, and more. One of the new backgrounds has a cute theme while the other one offers a creepy backdrop.

EA shipped Spore in September, and since then, players have created and shared millions of creatures. The company is currently working on an expansion pack, due for release next spring, that will widen the game's space exploration phase, which is the final stage after players have guided their creatures through the cell, creature, tribe, and civilization stages.
