Pull The Other One, John!
Kelsey Brookes was intending on writing a piece that wittily proved John Dvorak's patheticness through quaotations from Mr. Dvorak's own work. What he found instead was an intelligent, thoughtful, insightful, and well, a good writer. He also came to some interesting conclusions. This is a change of pace from the Dvorak bashing that has been taking place and is a good read.

Would you have invested?
iTeen Online has found a great staff picture from Microsoft in 1978. Though few companies would probably be able to look proudly at their 1978 staff picture (the 70's sucked, no matter how hard we try and pretend that it did not), this one is particulary delightful. :-)

Would you have invested?

The Warp Core - Apollo, The Overwhelming Threat, and The Old Men of Computing
Wow, John MArtellaro has written a truly great editorial. Today he deals with the nature of business management and the way it manifests itself in many companies IT structure. Our favorite quote from the piece is:

In a fashion very similar to the U.S. scientific establishment in 1960, the men who have risen to the top have developed feet of clay. People who obtain (I hesitate to use the word earn) management positions have learned how to minimize risk and lock down the status quo. Their weapons are ignorance, arrogance, and fear.
