After two rounds, the first sixteen teams have bowed out of the Double Elimination ladder, and the remaining teams become ever more aware of their own mortality. The Top Bracket is down to eight high-powered matchups, while the Bottom Bracket are faced with the prospect of having to win two matches per week just to stay alive... high stakes are sure to raise the tension a couple of notches on this week's Spotlight Matches.

With Evil Inc. and Snap, Krackle, DIE!, it's no longer a matter of looking at which team has won the most matches. Neither have lost a single match, and upon examining games results, both have nearly impeccable ratios on that field as well. When two teams performing as perfectly as ei. and Snap match up against each other, a great show is as inevitable as the results are hard to predict.

The Rummers have thus far demolished all of their opponents, attaining a grand total of over 500 points in the process and showing off their mad skills. We'd rank them as firm favorites to win the match, but Ancrik shouldn't be quickly discounted. They've shown themselves to be quite competent, with only a single loss (in the QR to MCC) and an upset victory last round over the previously undefeated Dwarven Cannibals.

Both of these orders find their roots in the old school side of Myth, and throughout their tournament experience, both orders have seen impressive results. BMF have the higher seed, a larger roster, and have been undefeated to date. But Altus Praeses aren't going to lie down without a fight by any means, and this should be the most challenging match that either order has faced yet in MWC99.

Both Alliance and the Companions faced tough competition in their QR round, Alliance against fs and the Companions against ni. Both emerged at the top of their pool, but the Companions did so with a defeat at their backs. This defeat forced ~C~ to face more difficult competition in the DE, however, and might have left them better prepared for a round 3 match up. This match could go either way.

After being defeated by the Madrigal Chamber of Commerce last round in a close match, Wolfpack now face Nanus Improbus in the Elimination Round to see who will continue in the tournament. -ni- suffered a defeat in the first round due to many of their members being absent, and with their team back from holiday Wolfpack may be in for a big surprise.
