Due to recent events in the WP vs tna match, the Triumvirate have come up with some additional rules to handle Sudden Death extending indefinitely.
Because the MWC99 rules explicitly state that rules changes may not be made retroactively, these new rules apply to any games played after now... 20:45 06/25/99.
The new clause in the general scoring rules is:
It is possible for sudden death to be extended indefinitely (e.g. by a stygian knight/soulless faceoff). If this occurs, the game can be ended by mutual consent of both teams by Yelling to each other. One team should withdraw to allow the game to end normally. Credit for items (balls, flags) that were contested to perpetuate the sudden death is divided evenly between the teams. Items that happened to be contested briefly during SD, but which were not part of the standoff, will not be divided. If the teams cannot mutually agree to end the game, after five minutes of unproductive sudden death have elapsed, any team's captain may Yell that they are asking for a division of the balls and withdraw to end the game. The Triumvirate will review the film and if the Triumvirate agrees that the standoff was genuine, credit for the balls will be divided. Otherwise, the results of the film will stand.

As the Double Elimination ladder kicks off, we're finally in a position to start providing the Highlights that we've been building up for. Kith-Kanan joins the MWC99 staff as Highlight Coordinator, and you can see his picks for this week's Spotlight Matches in the Highlights Section.

Because teams entered preferred times that were later than we expected, we are pushing the deadline times for results submission back from 9pm to 10:30pm CDT for all match results.

Quite a few people have pointed out that if a team is relegated to the Bottom Bracket, they shouldn't have to play people who were relegated from the same part of the ladder as they themselves were; otherwise teams end up encountering each other multiple times.
So, we've changed the rules for DE relegation, and also added extra information to the Bottom Bracket page so that you can see where teams will end up.

Bungie have agreed to let us use the tournament rooms. All players' logins (from teams that are still in the tournament) are being placed on the access list for the tournament rooms. We strongly suggest that you play your matches in these rooms, if unranked fills up.
Please ask all of your players to check out their individual player page and make certain that the login is listed correctly. Changes may be sent in by email. Note that logins are not case-sensitive; "TheThee" is the same as "thethee".

We have now implemented a kill statistics page where you can check out those players and teams who just don't seem to play well with others. Bon appetit!

Just a reminder for those of you who haven't been keeping up with the rules...
All matches from now on are decided on the basis of points scored, unlike QR matches which were decided based on the number of games won.

MWC99 is moving along merrily, and we have our first prize to give away! If you checked out the prizes page any time recently, you should have seen that there was a 'Front Runner' prize to be awarded to the top-seeded team going in to the DE ladder.
Congratulations to the Heroes of Legend, who win for themselves five Myth II T-shirts and five copies of the Myth II soundtrack CD.

The build-up to the Myth World Cup came to a triumphant climax last night, as the Opening Ceremonies were held in the newly finished Field of the Dawn, here in Muirthemne. Teams and spectators from across the land watched in wonder... [read more]

Because some people have mentioned that they've had trouble getting maps off the Mill successfully, we have also mirrored all of the maps on the MWC99 Hotline server.

Well, after three weeks of intense play (and intense workload) the Qualifying Round is complete. Thank you immensely to all of those players and staff members who helped make it the success that I believe it was, despite the unfortunately timed metaserver outage this weekend.
Of the ninety-six teams who entered the Myth World Cup, sixty-four now remain to begin their real journey... fighting their way up through the double elimination ladder one step at a time.
Based on teams' performance during the Qualifying Round, the seeds for the DE phase have been calculated, and this has determined whereabouts they start in the ladder and who they play. You can see the layout for the Top Bracket here in all its technicolour glory.
The matchups for Round One will be mailed out to teams once we process all of the roster additions for this week. Expect this to happen very shortly.
