A picture is worth a thousand swords. Now, you will no longer be forced to use your imagination in order to see the horrific carnage that we spell out for you in lovingly graphic prose.
We've added screenshots to the Play of the Week and Blunder of the Week. Expect this to be a regular fixture in weeks to come!

The rules for Capture the Flag have been changed slightly to cover flag-swap situations.
If you haven't had a look at Smells Like Death In Here and Caer Cadarn yet, there are public beta versions of the maps available on MWC99 Hotline for your order to look at and practice on. Please let us know if you have any feedback about the maps, or the map+game combos that we plan on using.
Results for Round Two are flooding in, and they will appear on the website as we process them. Keep checking back regularly for more match coverage.
Tomorrow is the fallback day for both the Top and Bottom Brackets. You should all know the drill... also, we plan on having a number of fast hosts available so if you're having host trouble come and find a MWC99 official.
If you have any roster changes that you want made for Round Three, they should be sent in now.

Badlands have completed the conversion of Smells Like Death In Here to a two-team mesh. In the process, they've managed to tidy up the construction of the map as well, reducing memory and CPU overheads. The map is now ready for use. There's only one problem...
... we can't decide what unit selection works best on the map. There are warlocks, bowmen, wights, ghols, dwarves, heron guards, warriors... and either thrall or ghasts. I like thrall; Bellendaine prefers ghasts. Both are good choices, but they change the way that the map plays considerably.
So, we'd like your input! We've put a public beta version up on MWC99 Hotline which has two meshes (Ghasts and Thrall) and we'd like you all to download it and play it with your order. See how the map feels, and which units work best. Please send us in your thoughts, and any films!

There was a fire last night in the third-year laboratory of the Computer Science department where I work. This was next door to our main server room, and smoke damage is going to require that all of our networking hubs are replaced. Although this doesn't affect the building that I work in, all web and email services are expected to be suspended for a while.
This means that I be unresponsive to email for some time, and/or the page may stop being updated as frequently. I should still be able to access bungie.net, so the fallback time this week and all matches will continue unchanged.

Quite a lot of people have helped us out by writing match reviews. Thanks very much to all of you! We still need intrepid reporters to help us handle the workload, though... as of today there are 111 matches that haven't been reviewed. Without reviews the threat ratings aren't updated, and we slip behind our target of 100% coverage.
71 of these matches haven't been claimed by anyone for review... however, some people have claimed matches and not reviewed them. In some cases these claims have been sitting around for weeks. If you don't intend to write these reviews, or if you sent them in but we never post them, please let us know.

Have you got a fast Internet connection and enjoy watching games? Have we got an offer for you!
Starting next round, MWC99 staff are going to be assigning fast, neutral hosts for selected spotlight matches. Some of these matches will have real-time coverage provided on the MWC99 hotline site. But they'll all be superb play between excellent teams.
If you've got a good cablemodem or faster connection, and you might be interested in hosting, please contact us with details as to what times you'd be available to host.
