 Rumor has it that when he was a lad, this Thief was caught trying to
deprive an Avatara of his coin-purse. Recognizing the intelligence and
potential of the boy, the Avatara declared that, as punishment, the boy
would function as a servant to the Nine, in the hopes that the lad would
reach his full potential. As the years passed, Thief used his position
to learn all he could from the Nine including areas of war-theory and
tactics. Gradually, Thief became restless in his sedentary life, and
felt the need for adventure (as most young-men do). His master granted
him leave, and Thief was once again on his own...
