[1:00 PM] Mac Developers: Apple Announces 5th Annual Apple Design Awards by Staff Apple has announced the 5th Apple Design Awards for this year's WWDC. The company will be offering awards in 4 categories and the winners in each category get a brand spanking new PowerMac G4 as well as bragging and marketing rights. According to Apple: We're excited to announce the 5th annual Apple Design Awards! Submit your products now-the deadline is approaching fast! Download the contest entry forms at the WWDC web site. The Apple Design Awards recognize innovation, advanced Mac OS look and feel, use of Apple technologies in our developers' Mac OS-based products, and new, exciting, and high quality product entries to the Mac OS market. Four Apple Design Award winners and four runners-up will be announced in the following categories: Most Innovative Best Macintosh Look & Feel Best Apple Technology Adoption Best New Product Winners in each category receive a stunning Power Mac G4 system. Winners are also awarded a trophy and the right to use the Apple Design Award winner logo on packaging and manuals. Submissions are being accepted now, with the winners being announced at a special Apple Design Award ceremony during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
