[9:00 AM] Calling All Macs!, Mac SETI@home Team Takes Hit In Rankings
by Staff

Despite the incredible efforts of Low End Mac, who has brought in more than 50 new members in the last few weeks, Team Mac Observer has fallen from 18th to 20th place in the Top 100 Club Teams rankings. Team Mac Observer is part of the incredible SETI@home project which seeks to harness the power of millions of computers from almost 2 million participants. If you need more information on SETI@home, read all about it.

The good news is that membership in the Team is up to 488 people and companies! Thanks to everyone who has joined in recent weeks, and to those who have been participating since the beginning. Our Team continues to become faster with each work unit currently averaging 15 hr 18 min 52.2 sec. We are also nearing the 200 CPU year mark, an incredible concept. We have contributed 193.43 CPU years, which is the equivalent to one computer being on continuously for 193.43 years.

Since our last update, we have been overtaken by Team BeOS, as well as SETI@Netherlands, so we could use your help! If you are interested in being part of a Top 20 Mac team, join us! Whether you have the fastest G4 running Mac OS X, or a PowerMac 6100 66 running Mac OS 8, sign up! If you are a part of a company, sign up computers there! If you sign up two or more computers in your company's name, we will add your logo to our Team home page. It's easy!

This is a great project and a lot of fun, so sign up now!

Thanks again to Low End Mac for all the work they have put into Team Mac Observer!
