[5:00 PM] MacWeek Offers Excellent Report On Today's Apple Shareholder Meeting
by Staff
Stephen Beale of MacWeek has offered an excellent report on Apple's shareholder meeting. Rather than quoting from it, we would like to encourage you to read their report.
You can read the full report at MacWeek.
The Mac Observer Spin: The one issue we would like to comment on at this time is Mac OS X on Intel. The rumor sites have been going on about the Mac running on Intel since just before the first Pope took up residence at The Vatican. MacWeek reports "However, Jobs said that Apple currently has no plans to run Mac OS on Intel hardware." Note that Mr. Jobs is not quoted, but paraphrased in the MacWeek report. Mr. Jobs also spoke of controlling the entire user experience from the hardware and software standpoint and how Apple was the only company in the world that still does this, a theme he has repeated often in the last couple of years.
Now nitpickers might say that Mr. Jobs did not say that MacOS *X* would not run on Intel, and we were not in attendance at the shareholder meeting to judge if anything should be read into that. That said, the Mac OS in any form is not going to be shipping for Intel processors any time soon, if ever. Period.
In the meanwhile, go read MacWeek's report, it is an excellent one.
