[3:00 PM Microsoft Press Release: "[Company] Chooses Microsoft Windows 2000 *OR* Greater Reliability
by Bryan Chaffin
We almost feel bad about kicking a dog when it's down, but we just couldn't pass up this opportunity. A press release was issued by Microsoft today that suggested that a large company was making a choice between Windows 2000 *or* greater reliability [Editor's Note: Please note that the emphasis was added by The Mac Observer]. Obviously this was a mere typo with an "F" missing in front of the "or," but it is possible that the mistaken title is the more accurate of the two. In fact, we couldn't have said it better ourselves. You can read the press release yourself at Yahoo!'s Web site. In case it gets corrected, we took the opportunity to grab a screen shot, for posterity of course... :-)

Thanks to Observer Jude George for alerting us to this!
The Mac Observer Spin: If we aren't careful, so many things are going to go wrong for Microsoft, they are going to start appearing to be the underdogs they are desperately trying to convince the American public they are. So many things at one time are just not going the company's way.
Sales of WIndows 2000 have been lukewarm at best, and the company is trying to build support for the Windows upgrade in order to boost sales. The latest quarter the company reported, while stunningly stellar (their profits exceeded Apple's entire income!), was slower than analysts had thought. That has contributed to the downward pressure on the company's stock. Our point is that building prestige for Windows 2000 is what this press release was supposed to be about.
