The new Stallion Gigabit ethernet card also comes with an enhanced software package. The new software promises increased performance, universal installer capabilities, and new driver support. According to Team ASA: The copper Stallion GT-II™ uses Category-5 cabling with an operating distance range of 100 meters. "This is a great advantage for legacy buildings wired with copper", says Mark Murray President of Team ASA. "Network administrators can use existing cabling which will ease the transition to Gigabit Ethernet and reduce installation time and set up costs significantly." The Stallion GE-II™ uses multi-mode cable and can operate at distances of up to one half a kilometer. The Stallion Gigabit series fiber and copper adapters are an advanced series of PCI Network Interface Cards (NIC) utilizing the IEEE P802.3z and P802.3ab specification for support of 1 Gigabit Ethernet.
