[1:40 PM] The Sims Will Come Live On Your Mac!
by Staff
Update: Please note that Mac Home, the print magazine, was actually the first publication to break this story. We have left our original report as we first published it, and we regret any slight to Mac Home.
Our good friends at the Mac Gamer's Ledge scooped the rest of the Mac gaming community with the announcement that The Sims has been officially announced for the Mac. The Sims is the latest of the long running Sim series that began on the Mac with SimCity many years ago. The Sims was released for the PC earlier this year, and many Mac users have been hoping it would be brought to the Mac as well. According to Aspyr:
Yes, that's right folks, The Sims is Mac bound!
We are thrilled to be bringing The Sims, "the people simulator", from designer Will Wright and the folks at Maxis to the Mac. Having simulation games down to a science, the Sims challenges player's intellect and creativity.
The challenge of The Sims is life and this challenge is endless, with infinite possibilities. Create good citizens, jet setters, or slobs. Control the lives and relationships of a neighborhood of simulated people known as "Sims." Give each Sim a unique appearance and personality. Keep Sims happy as swinging singles or loving parents. Choose careers, make friends, fall in love, fight with the neighbors or shoot hoops in the backyard. The fate of a Sim, for better or worse, rests in your hands. Build, buy and live but be ready, Sims can fend for themselves and they won't wait around for orders.
Head over to the Mac Gamer's Ledge and read more about The Sims. The site has prepared an introduction to the game to wet the appetites of those who may be unfamiliar with the title.
The Mac Observer Spin: This game has been extraordinarily popular on the PC, though we have noticed a disturbing trend for many players to torture their Sims. That's another story for another article though. Aspyr should have a hit on their hands with this game because of its unique nature. There are lots of 1st person shooters on the market, but only one The Sims.
