|[6:00 AM] Powerlogix Releases FireWire & USB On One Card
PowerLogix has taken a step outside from their traditional role in the Mac upgrade market and has released a new FireWire/USB PCI card. The RapidFire FireWire USB card allows users to easily expand system I/O options with the installation of just one card. According to PowerLogix:
The RapidFire card includes three FireWire ports, one of which is internal. It also offers two USB ports which allow connection to any USB devices. The RapidFire card, combined with a PowerForce G3 or G4 processor, is the most economical way to upgrade an older Mac with all the features of the latest PowerMacs.
"The RapidFire card is a great option for older Macs upgraded with G3 or G4 cards. Now, users can get the same processor, FireWire support, and USB support of the newest Macs and use only one PCI slot," said Robin Sharp, Marketing Manager. "The RapidFire is the best upgrade option. Getting two cards in one is the best option, especially for PowerMacs that have only two or three PCI slots."
The new PowerLogix board is compatible with all PCs with PCI slots and all PowerMacs with PCI slots, including newer G3 and G4 systems, for those wanting to add I/O ports.

The Mac Observer Spin: This joins the card that OrangeMicro is shipping as the choice for adding both USB and FireWire to your Mac. Since most Macs are PCI-slot challenged, a dual card is a great choice for adding both technologies.
