[3:30 PM] FireWireDirect Announces New Company & New FireWire Solutions
by Staff

FireWireWorld is reporting that a new FireWire retailer called FireWireDirect has opened their doors. The new company is opening with 8 FireWire products including Card-Bus cards, PCI Cards, Hubs, Repeater/Hubs, and two pocket hard drives. According to FireWireDirect:

FirewireDirect.com, Inc., a new company manufacturing, distributing and marketing 1394/FireWire peripherals and accessories for Windows and Macintosh computers, announced today the launch of the company and the first releases in an evolving line of FireWire devices available through catalog and direct Internet sales.

Promising a complete line of FireWire devices, the company's first offerings debut today on the FirewireDirect.com web site. They include a PCMCIA FireWire Card-Bus adapter, PCI FireWire Host Adapters, a variety of cabling and networking accessories and the first products in a series of FireWire hard drives and storage devices.

"FirewireDirect.com's mission is to make devices more affordable and appealing, offer greater selection and simplify solutions," said Jeff Chasick, company's President. "FirewireDirect.com's vision is to evolve the FireWire experience to the next level. All products are cross-platform compatible right out of the box allowing for greatest mobility and transfer of data between users of Macs and PCs."

You can find more information on the company and their products at their web site.

The Mac Observer Spin: This is good news for FireWire fans and Apple alike. FireWireDirect has raised the bar on low prices and this should help bring customers to market. At the same time, a new company with a strong product line should help raise FireWire awareness throughout the market.
