MacTreasures has announced a service to facilitate donations of Macs to schools. MacTreasures is an online retailer of hard to find Mac merchandise, and this new service is being offered free of charge to the Mac community. According to MacTreasures:
An act that started out as a service for one customer wanting to donate Macintosh computers to a school, has developed into a listing of schools wishing to receive donations of Macintosh computers. MacTreasures serving as the liaison, brings the schools and donors together by sending out a list of interested schools in the donators state. All logistics are worked out between the school and the donator.
Schools wishing to receive donations may send an e-mail to unusual@mactreasures.com, providing information on the school, its need for Macintosh computers and relevant contact information.
Individuals or businesses wishing to donate Macintosh equipment to a school should send an e-mail to unusual@mactreasures.com providing a listing of computer equipment and contact information. Donations must be in good working condition.
MacTreasures is a web-only reseller. Current listings include approximately 4,000 commercial unique and hard-to-find Macintosh software, hardware, and Newton products not found on retail shelves and 4,500 titles on the MacTreasures Education site for schools and teachers. MacTreasures carries software for everything from the Apple IIs to the iMacs.
The company has not added information on this program to their site, so those wishing more information should contact the company at the above addresses.
