[12:00 PM] Crowd Goes Nuts To Mardi Gras Float With Apple Theme (Pics Included)
by Staff
A few weeks ago we ran a story about a Mardi Gras float with an Apple Computer theme. The parade was held yesterday and apparently the local crowds in Alabama liked the float as much as the Observers who read the article. The image of the float in action, and the adoring throngs, was sent to us by Observer Jason Cruthirds. It would seem that despite the bonus colors in the logo, the parade watchers really liked it. According to Mr. Cruthirds:
Thought you would get a kick out of this. This photo was taken in Mobile, AL on Sunday, February 28 during Mardi Gras with my Kodak 290. The parade was the Pharoah's Parade. Check out the logo design and colors. :)

And they say that the Mac isn't a religion...
Thanks to Mr. Cruthirds for sending us the pic, and thanks to Mobile Mystics for making the float in the first place!
The Mac Observer Spin: As another piece of trivia on this float, the person who painted the logo wrote to us after our comments that there were a few things wrong with it in the picture from our original story. He told us that he had never seen a Mac from the 80's and had guessed at the logo design and some of the elements of the computer itself! We can certainly cut him some slack on the subtle errors with that in mind!
The bottom line on this whole Float-Thing is that it was great free exposure for Apple to a whole bunch of people in Alabama. |
