[6:00 AM] MACWORLD Expo: QPS Releases Blazing Fast SCSI CD-RW
by Staff
QPS, Inc. will introduce its new Que! SCSI drives, the SCSI interface versions of its Que! CD-RW drive, this week at MACWORLD Expo in San Francisco. According to QPS, Inc:
With an average access time of 160ms, the speedy, compact drives are designed for Apple G3/G4, Power Macintosh and PC desktop computers. The Que! SCSI 12x4x32x drives feature a blazing 12x CD-R recording speed, 4x CD-RW recording speed, and 1x through 32x rotational read speeds.
Like the original Que! CD-RW drive, they can read/write data and/or record music on CD-R and CD-RW media, which may then be played on any CD-ROM drive or CD player. They have 4MB of buffer RAM to support application flexibility and are ideal for MP3 recording, desktop publishing and data archiving.
Pierre Abboud, QPS vice president, said, "The Que! SCSI drives are designed for G3, G4 and Power Macintosh power users who demand high performance from their peripherals. The Que! SCSI has the same ergonomic shape as the original Que! that everyone fell in love with, with the same reliability and features." The Que! SCSI comes ready to plug and play. It includes CD mastering software (Toast for MAC, Easy CD Creator for the PC, and Direct CD for MAC and PC), a PCI 32-bit SCSI-II controller, CD-Recordable media, CD-Rewritable media, a carrying bag and necessary accessories.
The Que! SCSI 12x4x32x sells for US$499 (MSRP), and availability is scheduled for February, 2000.
QPS, Inc. will introduce its Que!! CD-RW drive at MacWorld Expo, January 5-8, in booth #1148.
The Mac Observer Spin: This is fantastic -- the SCSI CD-RW with features everyone wants AND it's bundled with a PCI card to eliminate all those hassles we've all had with SCSI on the B&W G3's! Fantastic!
