At MACWORLD Expo SF today, Casady & Greene, Inc. announced the release of SoundJam MP 1.6. The new version of the leading MP3 player/encoder has added more encoding options, and can now play streaming content off of the Internet. According to Casady & Greene:
Casady & Greene, Inc. announced today the release of a new revision of SoundJam MP. Version 1.6 of SoundJam MP features a host of upgraded features that make SoundJam MP the clear choice as THE MP3 solution on the Mac. SoundJam MP v1.6 adds the capability to encode sound files into high quality MP2 format. Now users can choose between MP2, MP3, and AIFF file encoding.
In addition to adding the MP2 format to SoundJam MP's encoding capabilities, version 1.6 has upgraded it's internet capabilities for playing music streams live off the internet. Users will notice how easy playing streams can be - in SoundJam MP v1.6 there are no complex adjustments of the preference settings required, it "just works."
Many of the changes to this version are subtle, meant to upgrade the user's enjoyment of the product. SoundJam MP v1.6 allows live window dragging, a feature which enhances another upgrade, support for Transparent skins. Users will be able to create cool new transparent skins just in time for our upcoming Skin Contest later this month.
Many of the feature changes in version 1.6 are in response to the user's requests. Hierarchical folders in playlists were a direct result of our users' suggestions as was the addition of both Fast Forward and Reverse buttons.
SoundJam MP v1.6 greatly improves the quality of the user's experience, enhances the interface with MP3 portable players and fully supports the Macintosh architecture. SoundJam MP provides the Mac interface for the I-JAM and Rio 500 portable MP3 players and will support Creative Labs' Nomad II upon its release. SoundJam MP v1.6 supports Mac OS 9 and is accelerated for the G4 Velocity engine.
SoundJam MP is available in electronic format for US$39.95, and in CD format for US$49.95. You can find more information about SoundJam MP at MACWORLD (booth #1839), or at their web site.
