[Show Floor] MACWORLD Expo - From the Show Floor, Day 2 - Vendors Report Record Sales
by Bryan Chaffin

The Mac Observer staff continued to canvas the Expo Floor on Day 2 of the show. Today's traffic has been even higher than yesterday's big crowds according to our observations. Large and small booths alike continue to be packed to the gills, with overflow crowds spilling out into the walkways.

In the Gaming Pavilion, Bungie and MacSoft both had lines of people playing the latest titles. MacSoft, which officially shipped "Unreal Tournament" and "Civilization: Call to Power" at the show, told us that their titles were selling hand over fist. Some 500 copies of Unreal Tournament alone have been sold. The company was currently unloading more inventory while we were speaking with them.

Bungie was showing Oni and allowing players to test out a beta version. The company also debuted bTV, or Bungie TV, a new show featuring interviews with gaming personalities and attendees alike.

ClubMac was also doing a booming business of selling merchandise direct to the floor. In fact, we could not find a single vendor that was actually selling direct who was reporting anything but brisk sales.

Several vendors also told us privately that their booths have been busier than at any other MACWORLD. One large supplier of removable media drives said that visitors to their booth at MACWORLD was just as numerous as at Comdex this past fall.

The Mac Observer Spin: MACWORLD Expo San Francisco is a huge success for Apple, the other Mac vendors, and attendees alike.
