[6:30 AM] Mac Software Retailer (& MACWORLD Expo) Featured In CNN Headline News Story
by Bryan Chaffin

The world continues to show us that the rules have changed. Today on CNN Headline News, a company called eMacSoftware.com was featured in a news segment. eMacSoftware.com is an online Mac-only software retailer. While focusing on the company as a "dot-com" company with entrepreneurs who are struggling to pull the business up by their bootstraps, Macs were featured heavily throughout the piece. For instance, the three partners work on two iMacs, one of which was purchased at a US$50 discount because it was Tangerine. Repeated shots of iMacs from various angles were shown along with all manner of Mac and Apple paraphernalia on the walls of the company's office. The piece also showed footage from the company's booth at MACWORLD.

According to Headline News, the company has become steadily busier, enough so to pay the bills in fact.

You can find more information on eMacSoftware.com at their web site.

The Mac Observer Spin: Observers new to the Mac market night wonder why this is being treated like a "Big Deal." Six months ago, there was simply no way a small retailer that sells Mac software exclusively would be covered on Headline News unless one of the principals was involved in some sort of sordid scandal involving farm animals. Seriously. Mac-oriented companies were simply not important enough to even recognize, let alone make the news. Those Mac evangelists who were worried about Apple or Mac coverage in the mainstream press usually found themselves simply trying to counter the negative and misleading comments about Apple in what few articles there were.

Apple has slowly cracked this glass wall during the last year, with the first steps coming in the financial news market. Today's story about a small Mac software retailer making a mainstream news powerhouse marks a first that anyone on The Mac Observer staff is familiar with. As with all positive coverage of the Mac, this is great because it offers increased credibility ad mind share for Apple among consumers.

Go check out the site. These guys run a nice operation, and The Mac Observer offers them congratulations on the coverage from CNN Headline News.
