[4:40 PM] CNN Shows A Windows Screenshot... On A PowerBook? (With Pic)
by Kyle D'Addario
CNN.com is offering a new "ticker" application for IE 5. No, not the IE 5 that the Mac world hopes to see in another month or so, but the IE 5 that is currently shipping on the Wintel platform. However, you would not guess it from their web site.
The "Ticker for IE 5" information page on the CNN site shows the new product running in the Windows version of IE 5, and lists all of the product's features. The kicker is the computer that the application is being shown on is a Mac PowerBook G3. The screen shot of the Windows interface on the screen of our beloved PowerBook is enough to make Mac fanatics cringe, but the irony is priceless.
You can see the picture below, or head over the CNN site to feast your eyes on the original.

Thanks to Observer Jeep Hauser for bringing this to our attention.
The Mac Observer Spin: One might think that it would be easy to leave a platform with supposedly zero market share and no software, that is produced by a dying company out of a Windows add on a major web site. This, apparently, is not the case.
The Mac Observer wonders if there is a Mac lover working in the CNN art department who saw a chance to have some fun. This is the web form of an "Easter Egg" and we should all enjoy it while we can. The Windows equipped PowerBook was brought to our attention from a number of readers, thus we imagine the CNN people will realize the discrepancy as well. For whatever reason, the page stands as is. We should enjoy, because to the true Mac lover, it is pure comedy.
