Kent Sorensen has updated his IRC client, Snak, to version 4.0. Snak allows users to easily chat and manage connections to various IRC channels. The new version adds improved handling for MP3 files found in many MP3 related chat spaces. According to Mr. Sorensen:
Version 4.0 contains many new features and improvements.
Some of the most significant features: easy access to MP3 files offered in the MP3 IRC channels, a channel bar for easy switching between channels, a consolidated list and information window, a divided main text with resizeable text and nickname areas for better text display, a ban list in the channel settings, configurable join menu, script support for event handlers for extensive customizability, more sample scripts and much more :-)
Snak now comes with the powerful PurePak script package written in the ircII scripting language which provides many useful functions to the serious IRC'er as well as the casual user.
What is an IRC client ? An IRC Client is a program that will let you participate in discussions in Internet Relay Chat channels. IRC is a service that uses the Internet to connect a large number of servers all over the world. Individuals then connect to a nearby server with the help of a client program like Snak and join one or more of the thousands of channels that are available.
At any given time the largest of the IRC networks may have as many as 35.000 participants and almost anyone can find a channel that talks about a topic that is of interest to that particular person.
