DXoft has released a new version of the FileMaker based utility, Software & Hardware Tracker. Version 3.5 allows users to keep track of important system information, such as registration codes and passwords, for a particular system. DXoft has also released version 4, which includes a runtime version of FileMaker 5 eliminating any backward compatibility issues. According to DXoft:
Main changes in version 3.5:
- Corrected a bug in the Workstation Model field validation options.
- Cleaned up a lot of scripts' "messages".
- Added fields to the Product, Purchase and License Trackers to let version 3.5 export records compatible with the new Software & Hardware Tracker 4 file format.
- The source of the issue affecting Purchase IDs' calculations has now been identified and is now listed as a "known issue". It's fixed in the upcoming Software & Hardware Tracker 4.
It's been two years since Software & Hardware Tracker 3 has been released. Since then, users have sent in a lot of feedback and suggestions, which have been taken into account when designing the next major release of Software & Hardware Tracker, version 4 .
First, that version will come with a runtime version of FileMaker Pro 5, thus avoiding the backward compatibility issues raised by the latest version of FileMaker Pro. People who don't own FileMaker Pro 5 will still be able to use Software & Hardware Tracker 4. Only users of the PRO version, if they want to customize the program, will need to own a copy of the FileMaker Pro 5 application. Software & Hardware Tracker 3.5 is the last version compatible with FileMaker Pro 3 and 4.
Software & Hardware Tracker 4 offers an improved user interface, more consistent and efficient, simpler to use and to master. The program is now much less complex from the user's perspective.
Software & Hardware Tracker 4 also offers a much richer Workstation Tracker, letting one enter more information about one's computers.
Software & Hardware Tracker 4 lets users protect their data with a password of their choosing and offers improved user preferences.
