[1:00 PM] Apple Takes Home Top Honors In Awards For Design Excellence
by Kyle D'Addario
Apple Computer has made a strong showing in another set of awards, the Industrial Design Excellence Award (IDEA) 2000. The IDEA Awards focus on functionality in design, something that the "new" Apple has excelled at since the introduction of the iMac.
Taking home top honors in this year's awards is the stunning Apple Cinema Display in the Business and Industrial Equipment category, and the USB iMac subwoofer, iSub, in the Consumer category. The Cinema Display has received rave reviews since its release, and the iSub is one of the neatest looking pieces of equipment we have ever seen. The iSub is the speaker that you do not want to hide under your desk. Apple also received Silver honors in the Consumer category with their iBook adapter, which has changed the way power adapters are designed with a cord-coiling feature.
