Apple Computer has again taken the top spot in the PC Data Top 10 rankings, finally overtaking Compaq which had held the top spot for the last 5 weeks. Both Apple and Compaq drew over 1 Million visitors last week, and as we reported, none of those visitors were actually using a Macintosh. This week's Top 10 again sees two new players, Intel.com and 3Com.com, both industry giants.

The Mac Observer Spin:Our initial reaction that iTools was responsible for the increased traffic to Apple's site may have been incorrect. PC Data told The Mac Observer that there were indeed no Macs used in their sample. Several Observers wrote in to suggest that it may actually be QuickTime generating the Windows using traffic to the Apple site. If this is the case, those results are interesting on their own, as perception has Apple losing the media player battle. No doubt brilliant moves by Apple, such as promoting the Phantom Menace and Lord of the Rings trailers in QuickTime, has led to the number of QuickTime downloads, and as a result traffic to the Apple site.
