Insider Software has released a new version of their Mac application update utility, Update Agent. Version 8.0 allows users to automatically update all local software with current versions. According to Insider:
The new software adds significant functionality to the Internet-based service, making the update process simpler and more intelligent. UpdateAgent 8.0 also includes a new demo version that tells users exactly what they need to bring their Macintosh systems up-to-date.
SMARTER UPDATING
An improved scheduling function determines when to automatically launch updating sessions
Fuzzy-logic capabilities resolve conflicting version information in application resource files
Better handling when user aborts updating session before downloading all updaters
SMARTER USER INTERFACE
Presents log of available updaters more clearly and with better defaults
Displays the associated application's icon in the information window of updater files
Automatically displays an updater file's information properties when it is selected
Unstuffs updaters automatically unless user chooses otherwise
On-screen help explains all context-sensitive program controls
SMARTER SYSTEM SUPPORT
Supports Proxy servers with MacOS 8.6 and later
Delivers updaters for specific to the user's MacOS version
Delivers updaters specific to the user's Macintosh system
