[6:00 AM] New PCI Card Adds SCSI & Serial Ports To PowerMac G3/G4
by Staff
Orange Micro has released a space saving PCI card allowing users to add both serial and SCSI ports to G3 and G4 Macs while only using one PCI slot. The Grappler+ SCSI/Serial PCI adds two serial and one SCSI port to your system in one handy PCI card. According to Orange Micro:
Orange Micro has developed the ideal solution. They created, the Grappler+ SCSI/Serial PCI card, a single PCI add-on card with two serial ports and a Fast SCSI Port. The product saves PCI slots, and minimizes the investment required for Macintosh customers upgrading to the new G3/G4 computers.
Most new G3/G4 customers have serial printers and don't want to be forced to buy a new one. Many own digital serial-based, still cameras and Palm Pilots. A serial interface is a must if the users want to avoid buying new peripherals. The second most needed feature for G3/G4 computers is the SCSI interface. Typical SCSI peripherals include external disk drives, Zip drives, DAT, and scanners.
The Grappler+ SCSI/Serial PCI card will be available in April for US$99. You can find more information at the Orange Micro web site.
