|[11:00 AM] MACWORLD NY To Offer Basic Knowledge Sessions For Mac Beginners
The MACWORLD Expo in NY will offer a new series of conference sessions named MacBeginnings. They target new Mac users, offering basic information on how to harness the power of a Mac. According to MACWORLD Expo:
MacBeginnings has been added to MACWORLD Conference & Expo, July 18-21, 2000 at Jacobs K. Javits Center in New York City.
With a record number of new Mac and Internet users expected to participate in the industry's leading event for the Macintosh platform, event organizers developed "MacBeginnings" to meet the needs of Mac users who have recently purchased their first Mac computer, have started using the Internet or have not previously participated in a computer tradeshow. Open to all attendees, the inaugural "MacBeginnings" will feature high-energy informative sessions and provide Mac users and Internet explorers the basic knowledge and understanding on how to unlock the power of their Macs and get the most out of participating in MACWORLD Conference & Expo.
Paul Kent, MACWORLD Conference & Expo Chairperson, said that the tremendous popularity of the iMac and iBook during the last year has created thousands of new Mac users across all demographics and industries. Recent studies also indicate Mac users are some of the more affluent Internet surfers, spend more time online and get online as quickly as 15 minutes within turning on their iMac for the first time.
A lineup of educational sessions that are free and open to all MACWORLD Conference and Expo attendees, "MacBeginnings" offers 8 different opportunities to help attendees get more out of their time at MACWORLD Conference and Expo. Tips, techniques and perspectives on the hottest topics in the industry will be presented by experts, including
- Mac 101 - A Training Class for Your First Macintosh
- User Groups - What They Can Do for You
- Getting Started with Digital Photography
- and a special session on how to create an iMovie.
You can find more information about MacBeginnings at the Expo's site.
The Mac Observer Spin: There is always enough room for teaching the basics to new users. We tend to forget that sometimes while debating the hot issues. With so many new Mac users having come to the platform in the last two years, the MACWORLD Expo organizers are not only offering a potentially great service, they could attract many more people to the Expo itself. If you didn't register yet for the Expo and plan on attending, we recommend that you do it now!
