[8:00 AM] Why Mac? Why Not? WhyMac Tells You Why
by Staff

A new Mac advocacy site has launched, called WhyMac2000. The WhyMac site looks to provide a unique slant on why the Mac is the best computer platform on the planet, and how Mac users can survive in a Windows based world. Accord to WhyMac:

Welcome to the WhyMac2000 site. This site will comprise an effort, mainly through a collection of links (see sidebar), to comprehensively document a quantitative usability comparison between Apple Macintosh computers and Windows PCs.

Wintel computers (computers using Windows operating systems with Intel chip hardware) have long dominated the personal computer market, comprising about 85-95 percent of that market for at least the past 7-9 years. This dominance was initially brought about by a highly successful marketing model that continues today--a market dominance which indicates relatively inferior technology, since the resulting resources should have by now enabled Wintel software and hardware technology to advance far beyond a vague emulation of Apple technologies, which makes one wonder what kinds of computing technologies would be available to us today if those resources had driven Apple related technologies instead, and what kind of general advancements would have occurred due to the enhanced productivity stemming from peoples' use of Macs--but I would like to explore reasons why consumers continue to choose to purchase Wintel machines instead of Macs.

You can find more information at the WhyMac2000 web site.
