by Staff
A new company is offering free QuickTime 4 based streaming media for broad band connections, focusing on ecommerce sites. GuideCast is a Toronto based company that allows users to have streaming content delivered from their web sites. According to guideCast:
guideCast.com, announced today the commercial launch of its free video broadband service based on Apple Computer's, QuickTime format. With an estimated 1.5 million consumers already using high-speed Net connections, the service geared towards movie and entertainment based e-commerce sites, is winning audiences.
"Incorporating broadband media into their web initiatives today will allow e-tailers to maintain a competitive advantage tomorrow.", adds Brookes. guideCast.com has fortified its business by establishing strategic alliances with content partners. Alliances have been developed with content leaders such Hollywood.com and studioNext.com.
You can find more information at the guideCast web site. We encountered JavaScript errors when attempting to view the site's demo with Netscape 4.7.3, but we were able to look at it with Internet Explorer 5.0.
The Mac Observer Spin: The service uses advertising displayed along with your content (separated and distinct from that content) to generate revenues, a great trade for those looking to stream on a budget.
