[11:30 AM] It's Spring Again: Enter Spring Cleaning 3.5
by Staff

Aladdin Systems has announced the availability of Spring Cleaning 3.5. Spring Cleaning is an uninstaller that provides 13 utilities to help users clean and organize their hard drive. According to Aladdin Systems:

Spring Cleaning 3.5 now helps users easily rid their hard drives of unwanted Internet-related clutter with its new iClean desktop tool. Spring Cleaning 3.5's searches are faster and more focused because of more powerful search filtering, enhanced search options, and an improved interface.

The popularity of the Internet has grown tremendously and it has been reported that over 80% of Macintosh users are known to surf the Internet on a regular basis. In a matter of weeks, users can accumulate thousands of downloaded cache and cookie files without even realizing it. Not only do these files hog disk space and slow performance, but also threaten a user's privacy.

Spring Cleaning's new iClean tool quickly sweeps away these private, space-wasting files.

New features and benefits

  • New iClean Quickly Removes Internet Tracks iClean is a stand-alone, desktop cleaning tool that sweeps away Web surfing tracks, as well as tidies up the desktop.
  • iClean cleans out Web cache files, Internet histories, cookies, reattaches aliases, and empties the Trash.
  • iClean gives users a detailed summary of items that can be deleted and how many megabytes of space can be recovered.
  • Readily accessible without having to launch the Spring Cleaning application, iClean is designed to be used after each Internet visit to prevent leaving a history of visited sites for all to see.
  • Enhancements for Faster Cleaning Spring Cleaning's new search filter narrows searches using file modification dates, kind, size and location for faster, more fine tuned results.
  • When uninstalling applications and their associated files, users can now either select from a full search of programs, or browse just for a specific application, which speeds the cleaning process.
  • The Spring Cleaning results window is now resizable, offering more information and is easier to view.
  • Now users can save and print lists created by searches for future cleaning and reference.

Spring Cleaning is available for US$49.95. You can find more information at Aladdin Systems' site. Users who bought version 3.0 between April 24 and May 24 get a free upgrade, while other registered users can get the new version for US$19.95
