PC vendors were buoyed throughout the day in advance of Hewlett-Packard's 3rd Quarter results which are expected to be good. Today, that benefited Apple which managed to close higher for the 7th straight trading session. Apple closed at 60 1/2, a gain of 7/16 or 0.73%). Volume was low with 2,471,200 shares trading hands.
The PC players also performed well with IBM, Gateway, and Hewlett-Packard posting strong gains, while Compaq also closed higher, and Dell closed unchanged.
The Dow closed at 11046.79, an increase of 73.14 while the Nasdaq closed at 2645.27, up 7.46.
