Internal Floppy Drive For Blue & White G3s Shipping
EZQuest has announced the release of a product that many Blue & White G3 owners (and potential owners) will welcome. The company has released the Anaconda LS-120 Internal Floppy Drive Kit. The drive allows Super Floppy Disks as well as standard floppy disks to be read, and fits into the open drive bay of Blue & White G3s. According to EZQuest:

EZQuest, Inc. USA announced today the release of the Anaconda LS-120 Internal Floppy Drive Kit. The Anaconda LS-120 kit is shipping to Apple dealers worldwide.

The Anaconda LS-120 drive kit will allow Macintosh Blue G3 owners to install a floppy drive into the open drive bay of all Blue Macintosh G3 computers. The drive will read and write to standard 1.4mb floppies as well as 120mb "Super Floppy" Disks. The drive will perform data transfers at rates of 750~1360 Kbytes / s as well as spec an average seek time of 70ms.

The company has not added information about this product to their web site as yet. The Anaconda LS-120 Internal Floppy Drive Kit is priced at US$129 and can be found at retail outlets. EZQuest has provided an e-mail address for requesting help in finding a retailer near you.

The Mac Observer Spin: We are the first people to applaud the dropping of the floppy drive by Apple in all shipping Macintosh computers. Getting rid of this legacy technology saves resources for not only Apple, but for all their customers as well. The sooner the floppy fades to a bad memory, the better.

That said, there are still people that need floppies for whatever reason. An internal drive for the Blue & White is just what the doctor ordered for many of these people, as it adds convenience over an external unit.
