Apple Announces QuickTime Live! Conference For Promoting QuickTime Technology
Apple has announced a QuickTime conference designed to help promote QuickTime technology. The conference, called QuickTIme Live!, includes a host of seminars, workshops and other resources. According to Apple:

Responding to the phenomenal adoption of its QuickTime® 4 technology, Apple® today announced it will host the first-ever QuickTime Live! conference, Nov. 8-11, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The conference will feature keynotes, full-day workshops, breakout sessions and a product showcase featuring the latest development tools based on QuickTime technology, the industry standard for digital media creation and video and audio streaming.

“QuickTime 4 is a blockbuster—over 12 million copies have been downloaded in its first 120 days,” said Steve Jobs, Apple's interim CEO. “QuickTime Live! is a must-attend event for anyone wanting to create and broadcast the highest quality streaming content on the Internet.”

QuickTime Live! attendees will learn how to implement and manage the entire streaming media creation and distribution process. The conference will include beginner and advanced tracks on authoring, editing and streaming content via QuickTime. Individual sessions will be targeted to both content providers and streaming media developers, and offer hands-on experience on digital media editing tools, QuickTime interactive movie creation, QuickTime VR and QuickTime for Java.

Registration begins today and pricing starts at US$395 for attending only the workshops, US$995 for attending only the conferences, and US$1195 for the full event. After September 15th, full registration will be raised to US$1390. Registration and more information can be found at the QuickTime Live! web site at Apple's web site.

The Mac Observer Spin: It is simply fantastic to see Apple at the point where it begin to hold these types of conferences. These sorts of events cost an armload of money, and Apple had had to cut out almost all of these extracurricular activities while it recovered.

At the same time, holding these kinds of events is imperative to help spread their technologies, so we are hoping this bodes well for future events.
