Ambrosia Software Announces Snapz Pro Contest With Cash Prizes
The good people at Ambrosia Software have announced a cool new contest that centers around Snapz Pro 2, their screen capture utility. The contest, dubbed the Snapz Pro 2 QuickTime Festival and Award is offering cash prizes. According to Ambrosia:

Ambrosia Software, Inc. announced today the opening of the Snapz Pro 2 QuickTime Festival and Awards. The new contest, which is open to any registered user of Snapz Pro, challenges entrants to explore Snapz Pro 2's QuickTime capture capabilities to their fullest, and create compelling electronic video productions.

Entrants will compete for cash awards in three categories:

Documentation - Snapz Pro 2 has long been the screen capture tool of choice for technical writers. Now, with the addition of QuickTime capture, Snapz Pro 2 is revolutionizing online documentation writing. Use Snapz Pro 2 to communicate about your Mac in video.

Presentation - Sales pitches, proposals, or anything that would require video of a Mac's screen are perfect opportunities to exploit the power of Snapz Pro.

Experimental - The Mac has always been a platform with its share of artists, and Snapz Pro 2 provides another way of making digital art.

Applicants may submit their videos by e-mailing them to contest@SnapzPro.com, or by mailing them to Ambrosia's offices on CD-ROM, CD-R, zip media, or floppy disc. Entries must contain elements that were captured with Snapz Pro 2. The use of other QuickTime-related products in the creation of the entry is acceptable.

The judging period will be from August 23 through December 31, 1999. Prizes will be awarded January 31, 2000.

The Mac Observer Spin: The folks at Ambrosia are awesome. This contest, while not offering huge cash awards, shows that the company can put their money where their mouth is. Also, it is simply fantastic to see contests like this within the Mac community. Not only does it offer the company an opportunity to show off its products, and their customers to show off their talents, it shows that the Mac market is now strong enough for a company to put the resources into an extranneous fun event. Not bad at all for a company whose products are mainly shareware!
