Learn About Wave Mechanics With YP Waves
Yves Pelletier has released another educational tool, this one helps students learn about wave mechanics. The application is called YP Waves. According to M. Pelletier:

YP Waves simulates up to 3 traveling sine waves simultaneously. It is easy to change the amplitude, wavelength, velocity and phase constant of each wave. This program is perfect to teach waves characteristics (amplitude, wavelength, etc.), the superposition principle, standing waves, interference of waves, beats, etc.

According to Macdownload.com (ZD Net): "YP Waves is a new release from Yves Pelletier, the master of the educational science application. (...) If you're a science teacher, student, or just like to play with cool science applications, check out YP Waves. Rating: 4 mice."

System Requirements:

YP Waves runs on any Macintosh computer with MAC OS 7.0 or later. It needs about 200 Kb on your hard disk and 800 Kb of RAM. The software runs on older models with 68000 processors (Mac Plus, Mac Classic), but simulations are slower.

M. Pelletier offers an evaluation copy, while the full version is priced at US$20. You can find more information about YP Waves at the developer's web site.
