by Staff

In preparation for the upcoming Macworld Expo, Global Village and Bocca Research have announced the arrival of a number of new products. While details are not available at this time, as official product announcements will be made at Macworld, Global Village has given us some clues as what to expect. According to Global Village:

Hardware/software video capture suite for Mac. This new hardware/software solution will allows Mac users to capture, edit, manage, publish on the web, and share high-resolution digital video and still images with its easy-to-use, intuitive software program. Users will be able to use their camcorders to create digital photos. This product will be priced for consumers and can be used with any USB-compatible Macintosh computer running Mac OS 8.6 or higher, including the Apple Power Mac G3/G4, iMac, iBook and PowerBook series of computers.

PCI/DSL modem card. This new high-speed modem solution will be available to ISPs and Telcos in January and for consumers via retail outlets by midyear.

USB SuperDrive -- a 2X removable storage device, which reads 120 MB disks or standard 1.4 MB HD diskettes for the Apple iMac and Power Macintosh G3 minitower computers with a USB port.

You will have to wait until Macworld for complete details on these products. You can find more information on the entire Global Village product line at their web site.

The Mac Observer Spin: There has been much talk about the demise of Global Village among rumors of layoffs and all manner of activity. Judging from this press release from the company, a major shift in the company's direction is certainly at hand.
