The MACWORLD Mac Gaming Championships have been fleshed out, and it looks to be another great event. The Mac Gaming Championships will be held at MACWORLD San Francisco in January, and the event features US$25,000 in prizes. According to MACWORLD:
The latest gaming titles and peripherals for Mac gamers, as well as the opportunity to win more than $25,000 in valuable prizes at the National Macintosh Gaming Championship, will be featured at MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco 2000 at the Moscone Center, January 5-8, 2000.
The Gaming Championship and Exhibition Area will feature more than a dozen of the leading game publishers and studios launching their newly developed products for the Macintosh platform. In addition, many top gaming peripheral companies will also showcase their new offerings, including such accessories as the latest Mac-compatible joystick or gaming chair. Both Mac gaming software and hardware will be available for purchase on the show floor.
The Competition Area plays host to the thrilling National Macintosh Gaming Championship, produced by Double Exposure and sponsored by MacSoft , MacCentral, iMacworld, Macworld and GameWEEK. More than 20 team and single-player tournaments will be contested, over four days, on such games as Starcraft, Warcraft II, Quake III, Quake II, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Unreal, Dark Vengeance, MYTH II, Marathon, Civilization II, Master of Orion II, Lode Runner 2, Diablo, Carmageddon, Tomb Raider III, Tomb Raider II, F/A-18 Korea, Madden NFL 2000, Galactic Patrol, Galactica - Anno Dominari and Project Magellan.
Any participant who wins three or more single-player tournaments (team tournaments excluded) in San Francisco will receive the title Grand National Champion and win a $5,000 Giant Grand Prize Package. The package consists of a Power Macintosh G4 Computer with a 17-inch display, an Imeron Intensor Sensory Gaming System with subwoofer, and an all-expense paid trip--including airfare, hotel and admission to exhibits (some restrictions apply)--to MACWORLD Expo/New York 2000 in July to compete in the second half of the 2000 National Championship!
Last year Michael Garrison, from Cupertino, CA, was crowned Grand National Champion at MACWORLD Expo/San Francisco 1999, he will be back to take-on all new-comers. Ross Wigdor, from Silver Springs, MD, the only Grand National Champion from MACWORLD Expo/New York 1999 will be coming to San Francisco to try and defend his title.
Tournaments begin on Wednesday, January 5, and finals will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2000.
