Martin Productions has updated the Sherlock companion utility, Sherlock Creator, to be fully compatible with Sherlock II. The new version, Sherlock II Creator, allows users to easily create Sherlock II compatible plug-ins. According to Martin Productions:
Sherlock Creator, a program for making Sherlock plugins to use with Mac OS 9's Sherlock 2, was today released in a new version. The program was first released about a year ago and has now been updated to support MacOS 9 and Sherlock 2.
Because of the update, the program will now change its name to Sherlock II Creator. The entire program has been rewritten to improve compatibility and speed. The new version has extended support for MacOS 9 and Sherlock 2, a completely new interface featuring Sherlock 2/QuickTime 4, a built-in help system and support for the Internet, News and People (via LDAP) plugin types introduced in MacOS 9.
The program can now also apply icon to plugins from files or applications in MacOS. The user only has to choose a file or program to import the icon resources from.
All text strings in the program are now located in the Languages folder within the Sherlock II Creator folder. Using a normal text editor (for example BBEdit), anyone that can speak English and another language can translate the entire program within 15 minutes.
Currently, language files for the English and Swedish languages are included with the software, but any new language file sent to me will be included with the program.
