The Mac only search engine, Macinstein.com, has revamped their site providing users with more features and an easier to use interface. For those not using Sherlock 2, or looking specifically for Mac related material, Macinstein.com is a great place to start. According to Macinstein:
Macinstein.com, Inc. has added several new features to their free web support of the Macintosh. A free Macintosh only banner exchange, visitor press release section, user group search, user group events, survey, and Maclibs.
The free Macintosh Banner Exchange is offered at a 3/2 ratio to help boost traffic for Mac related sites on other like-minded sites, including many sections of Macinstein.
Macinstein's Press Release section allows visitors to announce their new products and upcoming events to all that visit Macinstein. Since all of Macinstein's traffic is Mac enthusiasts and with all the services Macinstein offers, spread the word about your Mac announcements to a high web traffic Macintosh site.
User Group Search and User Group Events are offered to better enable small Mac User Groups to get their word out. The growing searchable database is now searchable by state, and will soon have a zip code look up for individuals to look for the Mac User Group closest to them. User Group events is a place that Mac User Groups can let people know when their meetings and events take place. To show our sincerity, we will never sell advertising on the User Group Events (although free ads that would fit in the User Group Events arena, will be considered).
About This Mac has been updated to also include: RAM at a time, Intro Price, Intro Date, Discontinued Date, Intro OS, Last Supported OS, CD Speed, HD Type, Video Ram, Enabler & Enabler URL. This is added to the information about all the Mac and clone models (Manufacturer, BusSpeed, RamSlots, RamType, MaxRAM, Processor, Speed, L1, L2, Floppy, ADB support, Serial support, USB support, Firewire support, Expansion Slots, Case & FPU).
