Adaptec Updates 2940UW OpenFirmware Update For Yosemite G3s
Adaptec has announced the release of an Open Firmware update for 2940UW Ultra Wide SCSI cards. According to Adaptec:

"Adaptec is announcing the release of its new "Open Firmware" beta driver for the PowerDomain 2940UW Ultra Wide SCSI card. When flashed with this new v4.1b1 driver, the PowerDomain 2940UW allows the new Blue and White (open firmware) G3 Macs to boot from devices connected via the card. The updated driver also corrects some incompatibilities that some users experienced between the card and these latest open firmware G3 Macs.

The beta driver is intended to support the new Open Firmware G3 Macs only. Customers using previous (beige box) G3s and older Power Macintosh systems should continue using the version 3.0 firmware until the final driver is released. Adaptec will be implementing an online registration database to enable Adaptec to notify customers via e-mail when the final driver is available for download. In the meantime, customers should continue checking our internet support site for latest driver availability and support related information."

The files can be downloaded directly from Adaptec.

The Mac Observer Spin: It's a Beta release, but Yosemite owners have been clamoring for this release. Observers are encouraged to write us with their results from using the update.
