Maxell Jumps On iMac Bandwagon, Offers Mac SuperDisk Diskettes
Another day, another Mac product. Maxell has jumped on the iMac bandwagon and is now offering SuperDisk diskettes that are Mac formatted. The company specifically cited the success of the iMac in their press release announcing the diskettes. According to MAxell:

"Maxell's introduction of a SuperDisk media solution for iMac users comes at the appropriate time. Recent news reports have indicated the new iMac is a big hit with consumers. Apple has said it shipped an estimated 800,000 of the machines between its mid-August 1998 launch date and the end of the year. Analysts say iMac is helping Apple regain market share, which reportedly rose to 5.3% last November on the strength of iMac sales compared to only 1.8% a year earlier. Apple more recently expanded the iMac line to include the availability of four additional colors, five in all, a move expected to spur sales further."

The SuperDisk diskettes hold 120 MB of storage and are designed to be used with a SuperDisk drive which Maxell does not make for the Mac though Imation does. Look for the Mac SuperDisk diskettes at a Mac retail outlet near you.
