Adaptec has released a new beat driver for the PowerDomain 2940U2W SCSI card. According to Adaptec:
"Adaptec has released a new "Open Firmware Aware" beta driver for the PowerDomain 2940U2W SCSI card that enables the new blue and white (open firmware) Mac systems to boot from devices connected via the Adaptec PowerDomain 2940U2W SCSI card. This beta driver (version 1.1b1) will work with all PCI-based Macintosh systems. Customers are encouraged to continue checking our internet support site for the latest driver availability and other support-related information."
A difficulty with Apple's new Blue and White G3s is that SCSI devices could not be used to boot the computers. Adaptec has released a series of beta drivers for the 2940U2W SCSI card that fix this issue. Adaptec is not offering support for the beta drivers, so users use them at their own risk. The drivers can be downloaded from the company's web site.
